How to Cancel an Order

You can cancel your order within 1 hour of placing it if you’d like to cancel the entire order (all items). You need a Better World Books account for the cancellation option to be available.

Note: Partial cancellations are not available at this time.

If you’d like to cancel only part of your order, please submit a request including your order number and the titles you wish to cancel.

💡 Pro Tip: Use the subject line:
 Cancel Order – [Your Order Number]

 

🕒 Cancellation Window

  • Orders can be canceled in full within 1 hour after being placed.
  • You must have a Better World Books account to cancel online.
  • During this 1-hour pending period, you will not receive an order confirmation email until your order has been processed.

If more than one hour has passed and you have not received a shipping confirmation, please contact Customer Service during business hours. We’ll do our best to catch the order before it ships.

If you checked out as a guest, please also reach out to Customer Service for assistance with your cancellation request.

 

🧭 How to Cancel from Your Order History

  1. Log in to your Better World Books account.
  2. Go to Order History.
  3. Locate the order you’d like to cancel and select it.
  4. Click the Cancel Order button.
  5. Choose a reason for cancellation when prompted, then confirm.

🔍 How to Cancel from the Order Status Page

  1. Visit the Order Status page.
  2. Enter your Order Number and Shipping ZIP Code (as entered at checkout).
    • If you don’t have these details handy, log in to your account and check your Order History.
  3. Follow the prompts to cancel your order and confirm when asked.

📦 After You Cancel

  • Immediate cancellation: Your order cancellation is processed right away, but please allow up to 1 hour for the items to be restocked.
  • Payment refunds: May take up to 7 business days to appear in your account, depending on your bank or payment provider.
  • Gift certificates and client credits: Will be returned to the original serial number used at checkout.
  • Discount codes: Available for immediate use once the cancellation is complete.
  • Cancellation confirmation: Email confirmations are not sent. To confirm your cancellation, visit your Order History and check the order status for confirmation.

 

🚚 If We Can’t Cancel in Time

Once your order has entered processing or shipment, cancellations are no longer possible.

You may still return your order after delivery. Please review our Return Policy for information and eligibility.
