ISBNs & EANs

ISBNs and EANs are unique identifiers for books that make them easier to buy, sell, and trade. The best way to ensure that you find the correct edition of the book you seek is to use the ISBN number. This is why some booksellers may request the number.

Where Can I Find These on BetterWorldBooks.com?
Every item has a Product Detail section under the available copies.

ISBNs
ISBN is the acronym for International Standard Book Number. It's been in use worldwide since the early 1970s. They come in a 13-digit and 10-digit variant, but both numbers are associated with the same product.

An ISBN is now 13 digits, and starts with 978...

It is usually found:
-On the back side of the title (or copyright) page
-On the back of a dust jacket
-On the back of a paperback

EANs
Most books published before 1970 do not have ISBN numbers. These titles are listed on our website with an EAN (International Article Number, previously called the European Article Number). This is an internal inventory number created by our system, and it can be used in place of an ISBN when searching on our website or contacting us about a book. Typically, EANs will not be found on the book itself.
